TALK TO US SPECIAL: ZILLA OAKS

We are in session with one of the future leaders of the Nigerian/African rap scene, Big Z! Welcome to today’s special celebrity episode of TALK WITH US. Let’s get to know you officially. What’s your real name?

My real name is Rodnee Ugochukwu Okafor.

The name Zilla Oaks is not new to the Nigerian rap scene as you go way back. What year marked your official debut?

My official debut in the Nigerian rap scene was in 2016 with my first single “Hot Hot.”

We are not going to discuss controversies today. It seems you’re upholding your career independently (we stand to be corrected if false).
How has the journey been so far? What fuels the consistency?

The journey has been challenging but fulfilling. Consistency is fueled by a passion for the craft and the desire to make a mark independently.

Taking a look at your growth so far, we can see that you keep it real and fresh. Do you think the world is still sleeping on you?

I believe there's still room for more recognition, but I'm focused on the journey rather than external validation.

If we are to give Zilla an opportunity to pass a message to his fans right now, what would you want your die-hard fans to hear from you?

To my die-hard fans: Thank you for your unwavering support. Keep believing in the vision, and together, we'll keep pushing boundaries.

Let’s discuss future collaborations. You have a feature discography of amazing artists so far. Are we expecting any new celebrity collaborations?

Yes, there are exciting collaborations in the works. Stay tuned for some amazing music coming your way.

We once read a tweet where you said you don’t really charge for collaborations.
How do you manage that?

I prioritize artistic collaboration over financial gain. It's about creating meaningful music and building connections within the industry. But please note, I do charge for collaborations when necessary, and I believe anything someone values is worth paying for.

When are we getting that Big Z album?

My next project is in the works. Can't wait to share it with the world when it's ready!
